The Safer Middlesbrough Partnership (SMP) is a merged Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP) and Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT). The SMP Responsible Authorities Group provides strategic direction to community safety partners with the aim of coordinating a multi-agency response to reduce the harms caused through the misuse of drugs and alcohol, reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and reduce the fear of crime.

The strategic priorities contained in the Middlesbrough Community Safety Plan 2008 - 2011 are: -

• Diverting young people under the age of 25 away from crime and ASB and reducing their vulnerability to prevent them becoming victims of crime
• Reducing repeat victimisation
• Reducing re-offending
• Town centre safety
• Neighbourhood safety

The Middlesbrough Drug and Alcohol Treatment plans provide the strategic direction for drug and alcohol treatment services.
