If you like skateboarding, blading or BMXing, the chances are you've already heard about Prissick Plaza. Only the second of its kind in the country, the plaza is a unique, world-class facility for wheel-borne extreme sports fanatics. The Park has already attracted major sporting names from the US and Europe, and is tipped to become a training site for the 2012 Olympics. And it's free to visit, so get your skates on!
The Plaza, just off Marton Road, was designed by the local skating community in partnership with Middlesbrough Council and sporting professionals from the US. Some of the world's most famous skateboard spots have been recreated at Prissick including the Love Park Stairs in Philadelphia and the Macba Gap at Barcelona. The results include a 20 metre deep kidney shaped concrete bowl, barriers, kinks, tables, piers and handrails all designed for swizzhizzing, nosewheeling, nollie flipping and frontside pivoting!
The Plaza is open daily and suitable for skateboarders, BMX riders or inline skaters. There are also regular events at the Plaza, including coaching sessions and competition
The opening times for the plaza are:
Monday - Sunday -- 10.00am-8.30pm
Plaza gates will be locked by park ranger each evening.
