One Big Night on Thursday 23rd April

One Big Night of Shopping, Eating and Entertainment Middlesbrough's reputation as one of the region's key destinations for shopping, eating and having a good time is being showcased at a special event.

One Big Night on Thursday, April 23, will see an open invitation to the public to come into the town to sample what's on offer, from food and drink to entertainment, retail therapy and culture.

The event, run by Middlesbrough Council in partnership with BBC Tees, will feature special offers, discounts, street entertainment and plenty of fun.

Many of the town's key retailers and eateries are taking part - and it's hoped residents and visitors will turn out in force to ensure the evening's a roaring success.

The town's renowned modern art gallery mima will feature for one night an exclusive one-off exhibition by renowned American artist Nathan Carter.

A continental market will be held in the town centre near Debenhams, while leading Middlesbrough designer fashion store Psyche is playing host to a 'Girls, Nails & Cocktails' night alongside a 15% discount on everything in store.

Other outlets in the town already signed up to offer discounts and special offers include Sassari's Bar & Restaurant in Linthorpe Road and House of Fraser.

Full details of retailers and other outlets, along with details of entertainment on offer, will be available nearer the time.

Psyche owner Steve Cochrane said: "We are delighted to come on board and lend support to One Big Night - I think it's a great idea to bring the town together for one night.

"Middlesbrough town centre has a diverse and cultural offer which
appeals to the whole family.

"To celebrate the night, our ladies' department will be running a special evening for our female customers with a Girls, Nails & Cocktails theme.

"Customers will be able to enjoy complimentary cocktails, canapes,
express manicures, gift bags and lots more."

BBC Tees Breakfast Show presenter John Foster said: "I really hope everyone comes out to show their pride in Middlesbrough.

"It's a chance to have One Big Night Out to make the most of our great town.

"It's going to be a fantastic night out!"

Councillor Dave Budd, Middlesbrough Council's Executive Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, said: "Alive After 5 showed there's plenty to do in the town after work and One Big Night is another event showcasing Middlesbrough's vibrant mix of retail outlets, bars and restaurants and entertainment.

"Middlesbrough is a match for anywhere else in the country and it's events like this which are putting the town firmly on the map."
