In the first National Student Survey, published in September 2005, Teesside was the highest ranked modern university in the North East of England in terms of student satisfaction. We topped the five regional universities for Personal Development.
Over 60% of students are on courses in academic areas where the teaching provision has been rated as excellent by the national higher education quality watchdogs.
Teesside was the only modern university in the North East of England to gain a '5' in the last Research Assessment Exercise; this was for Historical Research.
Teesside University was named the Times Higher Education (THE) Awards University of the Year 2009.
